One key element of this effort is the MIT Mobility Forum, hosted by Jinhua Zhao, the Edward and Joyce Linde Associate Professor of City and Transportation Planning and founder and faculty director of the MIT Mobility Initiative. Launched in 2020, this weekly forum has quickly grown, reaching nearly 10,000 individuals worldwide. It serves as a platform for disseminating innovative research taking place across disciplines at MIT.

“The future of mobility is being shaped within a complex and highly dynamic ecosystem. It involves established transportation companies, Big Tech firms, and a burgeoning number of startups. Additionally, governments are actively rewriting legal and regulatory frameworks for mobility,” explains John Moavenzadeh, executive director of the MIT Mobility Initiative.

In November of the previous year, Moavenzadeh led the design of the MMI Mobility Vision Day, an event that convened over 130 leaders, including more than 40 C-suite corporate executives, to address various dimensions of the mobility system.

“The MMI recognizes the importance of engaging with corporate and government leaders who are at the forefront of the mobility revolution,” underscores Moavenzadeh.
